Cry out to the moon
My cousin’s daughter was diagnosed with aggressive cancer three years ago. Bad enough at any age but seems particularly unfair in younger people. These are words I wrote at that time
Close your eyes as the daylight slips to evening
Move with me in the dance that speaks of grieving
Broken words, fractured lives,
I will hold you
While your world splits apart
Open your eyes as the moon reveals the night
Fear not the dark, the misty shapes
Cry your tears but face the light
Take my hand
Walk the shadows
Two small cells in one, beating heart
Whisper your vows
As we walk the unknown pathways
Trembling with uncertainty
But free from the arrogance of day
Lift your eyes, but let your tears fall
Raise your arms and cry out to the moon
